2017 Honens Festival: Storytellers I
9 September 2017 at 12:30 pm to 1:00 pm
Co-presented by National Music Centre
Artists
Dmitry Nesterov piano
Hazel Hutchins narrator
Tess loves the prairie, but her parents do not. Coming from an easier life, far, far away, they resent the bitter cold winter and the poverty that means burning cow dung for fuel. Based on a true incident, Tess combines authenticity with drama. Set during the 1930s in the Canadian West, it is a remarkable story of a family whose older members are immigrants but whose children are, in the truest sense, at home.
Concert Duration
This concert will last approximately 30 minutes.
Storytellers
Storytellers concerts are for the whole family. They feature popular children’s stories set to music and encourage kids to read while exposing them to classical music—often for the first time.
